Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's lacrosse team took on Maritime College in the second leg of a home double header on Thursday, following up the men's senior day celebration. The Dolphins battled throughout, but ultimately dropped the contest to the undefeated Privateers by the score of 18-7. The loss puts CMSV at 2-9 overall this season.
Sophomore midfielder
Alicia Rodriguez got things going for her team. The Easton, Pennsylvania native took the ball from her own zone all the way to the net, giving her team an early one goal advantage to kick off the game. The Dolphins rode the momentum throughout the first half, trading goals with the Privateers thanks to another from Rodriguez and sophomore
Macey Forg.
Maritime would eventually turn things into their own favor, as they outscored the Dolphins 7-1 to give them a lead they wouldn't surrender the rest of the way. CMSV wouldn't back down, however, as
Ava Starace would score a pair while Forg and sophomore Kainani McConnville each registered goals of their own.
Katherine Hungerford did her best in net despite the loss, as she made a number of saves on free possession shots, collecting 14 stops in the afternoon affair.
Marisa Misuraca was the lone Dolphin to pick up an assist.
Kaitlyn Cronin continued her fantastic senior campaign with three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls while consistently clearing the ball out of her own zone. Rodriguez also secured nine draw controls and six ground balls, furthering her standout second season in Riverdale.
The Dolphins are set to face off against Farmingdale State in a midweek Skyline matchup on Wednesday.
