Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's lacrosse team took part in the second leg of a CMSV/USMMA lacrosse double header following the men's game as they looked to win their first Skyline game of the 2023 season. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the tough competition in the form of the Mariners resulted in a 20-2 loss.Â
The Dolphins kept it close early, scoring a goal three minutes into the first period to close the lead to 2-1. The lead eventually grew to 10-1 for the Mariners and it proved to be too deep of a hole for the Dolphins to climb out of. However, sophomore midfielder Alicia Rodriguez was a bright spot for the Dolphins today, scoring and assisting on both of the Dolphins goals, tallying two points, bringing her season total to a team-best 43. The Easton, Pennsylvania native also added seven draw controls and two ground balls to her stat line.
Junior midfielder Alyssa LaTorre scored the other goal for the Dolphins today and senior midfielder Marisa Misuraca picked an assist on a goal today to round out the scoring for the Dolphins. Kaitlyn Cronin had another impressive outing, causing a team-high three turnovers against a stout Mariners defense, while LaTorre had a pair of her own. Junior Katherine Hungerford had seven saves.
The Dolphins are back in action Tuesday on Marillac Field against the St. Joseph's Long Island Golden Eagles for another Skyline Conference matchup as they look to get back in the win column.Â
