King's Point, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team entered Saturday not only looking to get their first conference win of the 2023 season, but to also stop a two game skid. The Dolphins will hope to do so the next time out, as they lost their contest to the United States Merchant Marine Academy 21-5. The loss brought CMSV's overall record to 4-7 on the year.
It was a tough first quarter for the Dolphins, as they went scoreless over the first 15 minutes of action while allowing five goals to the Mariners. USMMA would put in two more goals to start the second quarter before CMSV got on the board, thanks to
Ryan Jean-Pharuns, who scored his 12th goal of the year off a pass from freshman
Isaac Parsons. Jean-Pharuns' shot gave him an even 20 points through 11 games this season.
Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the Mariners would go on a five-goal streak to close out the first half.
Senior
Giovanni Jean-Pharuns opened the third with a goal of his own, while the first-year attack duo of
Richie Albert and
Andrew Dzubak combined for three goals before time expired.
Albert led the way with two goals for CMSV, while seven separate Dolphins had one caused turnover.
Jacob Cochran led the way with six ground balls and midfielder Renee Alamo had a team-best six faceoff wins. Senior goaltender
Sawyer Davis made 20 saves on 38 shots on goal.
The Dolphins return home on Tuesday and will attempt to end their skid against Farmingdale State.
