Dolphins Defeat Panthers, Victorious In First Conference Game

Farmingdale, NY - Today the College of Mount Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team traveled to Farmingdale, New York to face off against the SUNY Old Westbury Panthers in a Skyline Conference matchup. The Dolphins tallied their first conference win of the season today by a score of 16-0, shutting out the Panthers in an impressive fashion.

The Dolphins offense started off slow, only scoring two goals in the first period, but quickly turned it around with seven goals in the second period to take a 9-0 lead into halftime. The offense continued to roll in the second half. There were five goals scored in the third period and two more in the fourth, putting the game away for good in favor of CMSV.

Senior midfielder Marisa Misuraca was a big part of the Dolphins potent offense today, scoring five goals and tallying one assist, giving her highs in both goals and points in a game this season. Another major offensive player was senior attacker Ava Starace, who scored three goals of her own. Alicia Rodriguez. Macey Forg and Ashley Teal all had big contributions to the Dolphins offense as well, with the trio tallying four points respectively in the decisive win.

Junior goalkeeper Katherine Hungerford had a stellar game defensively, saving all five shots taken at her. Rodriguez had another well-rounded performance, with seven ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls to add to her point total. The defensive unit, led by Kaitlyn Cronin, Jill Howard and Hannah Freter did a fantastic job in front of Hungerford, allowing just six shots in the 60 minutes of play.

The Dolphins are back in action on Saturday for another Skyline Conference matchup, this time against the United States Merchant Marine Academy, looking to even up their conference record at 2-2 while keeping their eyes on a playoff appearance.
