Immaculata, PA - After winning their home contest against Mitchell College, the Dolphins were looking to begin their second winning streak of the 2023 season on Saturday when they traveled to Pennsylvania for a matchup against Immaculata University. After trailing early, the men's lacrosse program fought back in the final quarter, but their comeback attempt fell short, resulting ina 12-5 loss.
The Dolphins fell back to .500 after the game, with the team now sporting an overall record of 3-3.
It was a tough first half on both sides of the field for the young Dolphins roster. The team allowed seven unanswered goals throughout the first half and got on the board for the first time in the game off a shot from freshman
Andrew Dzubak with less than a minute to go before halftime.
The Dolphins and Macs would trade points to open the third, with Ryan-Jean Pharuns converting a scoring chance from
Jacob Cochran to bring the score to 8-2. Immaculata would then respond with a four goal run of their own. The Dolphins wouldn't go away quietly, however, as they turned up their points total in the final two minutes. Cochran,
Isaac Parsons and RIchie Albert would all score but it would be too little, too late for the Dolphins, as time would expire before more scoring opportunities would arise.
In addition to their goals, both Dzubak and Jean-Pharuns would pick up assists in the loss.
Sawyer Davis led the way with six ground balls while also making a season-high 17 saves.
The Dolphins will look to return to their winning ways this coming Monday when they host Centenary Univeristy.
