Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's volleyball team hosted Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon and improved their record to 4-2 against the Skyline Conference witha 3-0 win over the Maccabees (25-23, 25-12, 25-14). The Dolphins currently sit in the fourth spot in the conference standings, currently good enough for a postseason berth.
The offense was spread all across the roster in a winning performance that was dominated by the Dolphins from start to finish. Outside of a 25-23 first set finish, which saw CMSV make errors on their own end of the floor, the Dolphins shut the door on all attempts from the Maccabees to get into the game. Five different Dolphins had four or more kills in the match, with junior hitter
Kyle Thompson leading the charge with a game-high 11.
Terence Strehle (six),
Kevin Erhand (six),
Samuel Martinez (five) and
James Rose rounded out the success.
The assist game was strong, too. Erhand added 11 assist to his stat line while senior setter
Pat Ilardi added 15 of his own, a team-best.
Felix Paulino continued his terrific season with 12 digs, adding to his Skyline Conference best numbers, while Thompson, Erhand and Ilardi had three service aces apiece.
The Dolphins exit Sunday winners in seven of their 17 games this season. They'll look to extend their winning streak to three straight when they challenge the Purchase College Panthers on Tuesday evening.
