Patchogue, NY - Another weekend, another tri-match for the College of Mount Saint Vincent's volleyball team. The Dolphins were back on the road on Saturday afternoon and went to St. Joseph's University Long Island and battled the Golden Eagles and Purchase College in a pair of Skyline Conference matchups. CMSV walked away with a split, falling to St. Joe's before topping the Panthers, bringing their conference record to 4-2.
Despite coming up on the losing end of the battle against SJLI, a small victory in defeat was the Dolphins generating 23 points against arguably the premiere program in the Skyline. Junior
Kyle Thompson was back in full health and it showed, as the Wantagh native collected nine kills in the match, a team high.
Terence Strehle's resurgence continued with seven kills of his own while
Kevin Erhand added six to the stat sheet.
Pat Ilardi continued to thrive in the setter role with 19 assists while he and senior
Felix Paulino each had six digs.
The Dolphins returned to the win column against Purchase after winning consecutive games this past week, both against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn. Thompson (13) and Strehle (10) both reached double figures in the kills column while middles
Samuel Martinez and
Olatomiwa Ibitayo added 13 combined kills of their own. Ilardi reached the 30 assist mark for the second time in his last five games with 31. Paulino's 16 digs furthered his lead atop the conference leaderboard while Martinez also led the way with four blocks.
Next up for the Dolphins is a weekend showdown against Yeshiva. CMSV will take on the Maccabees on March 19.
