Brooklyn, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team took part in a rare late season non-conference matchup when they traveled to Brooklyn on Thursday to take on the Pratt Institute. The Dolphins rebounded nicely after their tough loss against Maritime, defeating the Cannoneers 70-49. The victory brought the Dolphins back to the .500 mark for the season, with CMSV now touting a 10-10 overall record.
The Dolphins were able to put together a strong performance on the offensive end in the first half, setting the tone for the rest of the contest. CMSV saw their lead balloon to 20 while continuously being ahead by double digits, thanks in large part to a combined 45% from beyond the arc. Senior forward
Dan Porcic led the charge with three triples in the first half, with
Brian Rawlings and
Adrian Rraci also aiding in that regard.
The Dolphins saw their fortunes reverse in the second half - they missed all six of their shots from beyond the arc - but a strong defense with steady offensive possessions kept the game in their favor throughout.
Porcic led the way with 14 points with six rebounds, two assists and a steal. Junior
Sean Goodwin had an efficient outing, knocking down six of seven shot attempts en route to a 12 point, three steal performance.
Joshua Cabezudo finished with 10 points and seven boards of his own while 12 of the 14 Dolphins who entered the game scored at least one point.
Now back in the win column, the Dolphins will look to carry their momentum into the weekend when they return to Skyline play in a road contest against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn.
