Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dolphins Struggle On Road Against Penn State Abington

Abington, PA - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball team saw three of its players finish in double figures, but their efforts came up short against Penn State Abington. The Dolphins saw their overall record drop to 1-7 through eight games in the 75-69 loss on the road. Despite the end result, the Dolphins played in its second straight closely contested game, with the hopes that the positive play remains ahead of their second Skyline Conference matchup of the year at home on Wednesday evening.

The Dolphins and Nittany Lions played a competitve brand of basketball, with leads reaching just two possessions throughout the first 20 minutes of play. Despite trailing for a majority of it, CMSV was able to stay afloat due to points off turnovers, as well as contributions from the second unit. Freshman Connor Wein earned the first start of his collegiate career and helped generate positive plays on both ends of the floor, as he scored six first half points, including a jumper that put his team on top for just the second time in the half, while also adding four boards.

Head coach James Mooney looked to Kevin Agyemang to boost his bench efforts, and the junior transfer did just that. The guard filled the stat sheet, with nine first half points while also adding rebounds, three steals and an assist. The team's efforts resulted in a tied score at 31 with both teams entering the locker rooms at halftime.

The trio of Agyemang, Joshua Cabezudo and DJ Tucker did their best offensively to push the Dolphins to a win. They combined for 27 of the team's 38 second half points. Cabezudo's final score of the game tied things up at 60 points apiece at the 3:47 mark, but despite CMSV's best efforts, Penn State Abington was able to stay ahead for the rest of the contest.

Tucker finished his second straight game as CMSV's top scorer with an even 20 points, including going eight-of-nine from the charity stripe. Agyemang added 16 points, while Cabezudo completed the contest with a 14-point, five rebound effort. Wein added a team-best eight rebounds to go along with his eight points.

The Dolphins will host St. Joseph's University Brooklyn on Wednesday, with the hopes that their positive play of late translates to wins.
