Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dolphins Dominate Old Westbury, Cruise To 10 Goal Victory

Riverdale, NY - A statement victory took place on Marillac Field on Wednesday afternoon. The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team posted the highest goal total on the turf surface of Marillac Field when they cruised to a 10-goal victory over Skyline Conference rival Old Westbury. The win not only improved their conference record to 3-0-2 through five games, but also put the Skyline on notice with the postseason on its way in just a few short weeks.

After gaining possession, in the opening seconds of the contest, the Dolphins never looked back. Standout freshman Caitlyn Thompson got things going for her team with a goal in the fourth minute of action, and CMSV never looked back. From there, Stuart Dick's team scored five more first half goals, with Alicia Rodriguez scoring two of her own, while Victoria Gamarra, Lily Ostiguy and Brittany Boyle each had one of their own. For Ostiguy, it was her second score in as many games while Boyle put in the first of her young career.

Gamarra recorded another goal in the second half, with Jasmine Hewitt, Emily Toepfer (the first goals of the season for both players) and Mia Del Rosario all helping put the game out of reach in the Dolphins' favor.

The team statistics were just as lopsided. CMSV led the way in total shots (37-3), shots on goal (26-2) and corner kicks (8-0). Javiera Sanchez continued her fantastic season in net fot the Dolphins, posting yet another shutout, bringing her scoreless streak to nearly 350 total minutes in 2023. Freshman keeper Kaitlyn Grady saw her first action in net and saved the only shot that reached her.

The Dolphins now turn their attention to the Golden Eagles, who are currently 3-1 in conference play. They'll head out to Patchogue to face off with St. Joe's on Saturday.
