Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Dolphins Top Rams In Season Finale, Advance To Skyline Postseason Tournament

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team wrapped up their regular season slate on Wednesday afternoon, taking on Mount Saint Mary College in a pivotal final game. The hard fought battle was won by the Dolphins, who walked away winners by the score of 1-0 on an evening when the program honored their senior class of Joel Luna, Ian Lamas and Erick Pantoja

CMSV ends the 2023 season with a 8-4-3 record an a conference mark of 6-2-3.

The two sides battled extremely hard, with each side rattling off shots from the early going until the final whistle. The Dolphins remained motivated to get one on the board, and they did just that with less than a minute to go in the half. First-year Dolphin Oscar Billman crashed the net and took a pass from fellow freshman Franklin Hernandez, en route to his third goal of 2023. The momentum followed the Dolphins over the final 45 minutes of action.

Luna, who played in his final regular season game on Marillac Field, had the play of the game midway through the second. The Knights were awarded a penalty shot, with Luna timing it perfectly for the save. Mount Saint Mary received the rebound and put another shot on net, but Luna made a jumping save to keep his team in front. The senior goaltender made 11 saves in arguably his best game of the season.

The victory gives the Dolphins a playoff spot, with seeding to be determined. Stay tuned to CMSVAthletics.com to find out how the conference standings shake out.
