Bronxville, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball took a short road trip to Bronxville on Tuesday night as they returned to action for the first time since Wednesday in a game against Sarah Lawrence College. The next Skyline Conference win for the Dolphins will have to wait, as the Gryphons walked away winners in three straight sets by the scores of 25-12, 25-20 and 25-14.
The loss puts CMSV at 1-4 against the conference with a game against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn on the horizon.
In a season that has seen first year athletes propel the Dolphins in game action, it was Riley Nichtern's turn offensively. The freshman from Rockaway, New York led the way with four kills for her team while also chipping in with three digs and an assist. Senior captains
Elizabeth Flores and
Melanieann Broderick combined for six of their own, with each hitter adding three kills apiece. First year setter
Nicole Sullivan recorded six digs and six assists, both team highs, while classmate
Naomi Reynoso made her second consecutive start at libero for the Dolphins and recorded five digs of her own.
The Dolphins had moments of success against a Sarah Lawrence team that has won four of five Skyline contests. CMSV best set came in the second, where they led by as many as six points before dropping it to their opponents.
The Dolphins will look to right the ship against the Bears on Wednesday, with the start time slated for 6 PM.
