Dolphins Take Home Fourth Skyline Win In Tight Matchup Against Gryphons

Bronxville, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team broke their three game skid on Saturday when they emerged victorious in a road matchup against Sarah Lawrence College. The 58-53 win over the Gryphons gave Maria Nardulli's squad its fourth Skyline Conference win of the season.

The Dolphins impressed in the first half of action as they thoroughly outplayed their opponents. Despite shooting a collective 38%, CMSV forced 21 total turnovers while outrebounding the Gryphons, leading to multiple second chance points. The Dolphins were up 31-20 at the half, thanks in large part to the trio of Kira Villegas, Melanieann Broderick and Amber Been, who combined for 21 first half points.

The Dolphins' offensive output continued into the third, where they converted seven of their 15 shot attempts, including five different Dolphins scoring. Sarah Lawrence made it a two possession game when they forced the Dolphins to miss all nine of their shots in the fourth quarter, but a strong three quarters of offense was good enough to keep the Dolphins on top.

Broderick ended her afternoon with a team-best 13 points on five of nine shooting while Villegas notched a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Julia Angeles recorded nine points with three boards while Kayla Hanley had five rebounds and a pair of assists. Been continued to fill up the stat sheet with eight points, nine rebounds and four assists of her own. Sofia Marcos had her second consecutive impressive contest with 11 points and five rebounds.

The Dolphins head back on the road on Tuesday when they look to win their fifth conference game against Manhattanville College.
