Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Dolphins Struggle On Road Against Manhattanville

Purchase, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team looked to make it two straight wins on the road on Tuesday evening, facing off against Manhattanville College as the regular season comes to a close. The Dolphins couldn't capitalize on their weekend win over Sarah Lawrence, losing to the Valiants 74-29.

It was a tough evening offensively for the Dolphins on Tuesday night. The team scored just one basket in the first quarter and just 24% for the game, all the while Manhattanville jumped out to a double-digit lead after 10 minutes and never looked back.

The Dolphins did, however, see their offensive increase in the second and third quarters, including scoring four baskets in 10 tries in the third. Kira Villegas, Julia Angeles, Melanieann Broderick, Sofia Marcos and Lexi Tucker all contributed to the stat sheet during their best run coming out of halftime.

Villegas, Angeles and Broderick were tied with a game-high six points apiece. Villegas added seven rebounds and a block while Broderick had six boards, an assist and a block of her own. Silvette Vargas, a mid-season transfer, had five points, two rebounds and an assist in just her second game with the Dolphins.

CMSV will be back on the Peter Jay Sharp Center floor this coming Saturday when they take on Old Westbury. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 PM.
