Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

CMSV Battle USMMA, Ultimately Fall In Three Sets

Riverdale, NY - After four games over the course of two days this past weekend, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team returned to action, this time at home, as they played host to the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The contest served as a rematch from the 2021 Skyline Conference semifinals, with the Dolphins looking for their third win in seven games. CMSV's continued growth was on display, but it didn't show up in the win column, with the Dolphins dropping straight sets to the Mariners.

While it wasn't reflected on the schedule, the Dolphins' resiliency was showcased all over the Sharp Center court. After dropping the first set 25-13, CMSV gave the Mariners their best, even going up by five or more points throughout the set. Melanieann Broderick had an impressive second set, collecting five of her 10 kills as well as as service ace over that span. For the Dolphins, it was Broderick who led the way in kills, with reigning Skyline Player of the Week Elizabeth Flores adding seven of her own. Isabella Garcia's team-best 12 digs gave her 101 on the season, good for fourth among all Skyline Conference players. Emma Contes continued to impress in the serving game, as she added two more to bring her season total to 10, while Lydia Aryee added 11 assists.

Despite the loss, spirits are high for a Dolphins team that continues to grow. They'll look to capitalize on said growth this coming Saturday when they compete in yet another tri-match, this time against FDU-Florham and William Pateson.
