Riverdale, NY - After a brief delay to start the season, the women's volleyball team took the Peter Jay Sharp Center court for the first time in 2022 on Tuesday evening when they played host to Drew University. Despite playing extremely hard in front of a big crowd, the new-look Dolphins displayed growing pains and dropped the contest to the Rangers three sets to zero.
Hitters
Melanieann Broderick and
Elizabeth Flores highlighted the offensive output for the Dolphins, with Broderick recording a team-high 12 kills while Flores added six of her own. Senior setter
Brianna Ayuso impressed as well, leading the team in both assists (12) and digs (10).
Isabella Garcia added six digs and five helpers to the stat sheet.
The highlight of the contest came in the third set. With the Dolphins crowd firmly in their corner, the women's volleyball team began to rally. Down 22-12, CMSV rattled off six straight points, with Flores adding two services aces. Newcomer
Emma Contes came off the bench and put together three impressive serves for points, highlighted by Broderick's 12th kill of the evening. CMSV ultimately fell in the final set 25-23.
The Dolphins will now jump right into conference play when they take on Maritime College a week from Wednesday.
