Harrison, NY- The CMSV baseball team returned to action as they took to the field to face off against the Eagles of Saint Elizabeth University. The Dolphins took care of business on the road as they handled the Eagles convincingly, 7-3.
The Dolphins traveled to Harrison, NY in search of another win over a non conference opponent. CMSV was clicking on all cylinders as they held the Eagles to seven total hits while nearly doubling that offensively.
After allowing a run to score, the Dolphins matched it in the first inning. Freshman Dom Porto singled and stole second. Senior Matt DiNorcia was able to bring home the run with a single of his own.
The third inning was similar to the first as the Eagles scored a run, but was quickly matched by another Dolphin run. Senior Jake Blinstrub and Porto added a pair of singles and a sac fly for CMSV brought home the second run of the game.
The Dolphins were able to match the Eagles in every inning, but in the fourth inning they were able to explode for five runs to take a 7-3 lead. After a walk to sophomore Joey DiNorcia, a double for senior Tyler Paulino and a single for freshman Jason Albert brought a Dolphin across the plate. A sac fly from Blinstrub would bring home Paulino and a single from M. DiNorcia would score Albert.
CMSV wasn't done as a pitching change for the Eagles wouldn't slow the Dolphins' momentum. A single from senior Eric Zimmermann brought home two more runs to close out the Eagles.
Sean Kennedy took the mound for the Dolphins and pitched a complete game. He added six strikeouts on the day while not walking a single Eagle hitter.
The Dolphins look to stay hot as they continue conference play as they take on Mount Saint Mary's College Saturday April 9th.
