Game Recap: Baseball |

Dolphins split Conference Matchup with Knights

Harrison, NY- The CMSV baseball team returned to the field as they hosted the Knights of Mount Saint Mary's College in a Skyline Conference doubleheader. The Dolphins split the series defeating the Knights, 1-0 and dropping the second matchup 13-1.

The first matchup was a low-scoring matchup for both teams as the defense was on display on the field. The Dolphins only allowed three hits in the seven inning game, and snuck away with a 1-0 victory.

The lone CMSV run came in the first inning as a pair of singles from senior Jake Blinstrub and freshman Dom Porto would put two runners on base. Two crucial mistakes including a wild pitch for the Knights would deem crucial for the Dolphins as Blinstrub crossed the plate to ultimately win the game.

Junior Andrew Geiger pitched a complete game only allowing three hits while striking out five Knights and walking none. The defense for the Dolphins would give them the edge over the Knights.

The second matchup was not as favorable for CMSV as the Dolphins allowed 13 runs to cross the plate while only scoring one of their own.

CMSV would again score their lone run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead behind singles from Porto, senior Matt DiNorcia, and junior Engers Marte. This would be the half of the offense for the Dolphins as they only managed six hits in the game.

The Dolphins allowed 13 unanswered runs to cross the plate including eight in the fourth and four in the sixth inning. This would prove to be too much to overcome as the Dolphins dropped the second matchup.

CMSV looks to continue their hot play as they take on a non-conference opponent in Drew University on Tuesday April 12th.
