Dolphins Struggle on Long Island Against Golden Eagles

Patchogue, NY - The Dolphins were looking to avenge their loss earlier this week at the hands of USMMA when they went to Long Island on Saturday afternoon for yet another conference showdown, this time against St. Joe's Long Island. Their return to the win column will have to wait another day, as CMSV lost to the Golden Eagles by the score of 15-5.

Like the contest against the Mariners, the Dolphins opened strong but struggled to hold their lead. Top talents Colleen MacNeil and Alicia Rodriguez both put CMSV on the board before five minutes expired on the clock, making it a two-goal game early on in the first quarter. From there, however, the Golden Eagles would go on a dominant stretch that saw them rattle off 13 straight goals that stretched from the first quarter into the third quarter.

There wasn't any quit in the Dolphins, as Rodriguez and Ashley Teal combined for three goals to make it a 13-6 game. But it was too little, too late, as St. Joe's would stay on top as time expired.

MacNeil, Rodriguez and Teal would score two goals apiece, with freshman Kainani McConville collecting the lone assist in the afternoon affair. Goaltender Katherine Hungerford made eight saves for the Dolphins.

CMSV will look to keep their playoff hopes alive in their regular season finale on Saturday when they take on Farmingdale.
