Dolphins Defeat Panthers in Overtime Thriller, 9-8

Purchase, NY- The CMSV traveled to Purchase College to take on the Panthers in a conference matchup, Saturday afternoon as the Dolphins looked to get back into the win column. The Dolphins played from behind all game, but eventually found a way to defeat the Panthers, 9-8, in an overtime thriller.

The Dolphins came into the matchup coming off a strong week of practice and feeling confident in preparation for Purchase College, and it showed on the field.

CMSV gave up an early 2-0 lead, but battled back as junior Giovanni Jean-Pharuns put a goal past the Purchase goalkeeper, but two more goals for the Panthers would put them out in front 4-1 in the second quarter.

The Dolphins remained composed as Jean-Pharuns assisted on goals scored by senior Patrick Nagy and junior Joseph Santana. The teams traded goals as Jacob Cochran and Albert Dore both put one past the Panther goalie to end the third quarter, but the Dolphins still trailed 6-5.

CMSV showed their will to win as they scored two more unanswered goals to take a 7-6 lead over the Purchase in the fourth quarter. Santana scored his second goal of the game and Ryan Jean-Pharuns scored one for the Dolphins.

Following a score by the Panthers to knot the game at seven, G. Jean-Pharuns scored a late goal to once again jump out in front, but a goal with under two minutes for Purchase forced overtime.

With the clock ticking down, Cochran would be the hero of the game as he scored his second goal of the game with only 22 seconds on the clock to win the matchup for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins will look to continue this strong play as they start their stretch of conference games beginning with a huge game as they take on Maritime College on Wednesday April 6th.
