Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Dolphins Fall Late Against Valiants

Purchase, NY- The CMSV women's lacrosse team traveled to Purchase, NY to take on the Valiants of Manhattanville College in a Skyline Conference matchup. The Dolphins competed in a close game, but ultimately fell to the Valiants, 16-12.

The Dolphins started the game off strong as they scored the first three goals of the game in three minutes. Freshman Alicia Rodriguez continued her outstanding play as she scored the first two before junior Colleen MacNeil chipped in the third goal of the quarter. The Valiants scored their first goal, but Rodriguez scored her third goal of the quarter to complete the early hat trick and give the Dolphins a 4-1 advantage.

The Dolphins offense cooled off and gave the momentum to the Valiants as they scored seven unanswered goals to give them an 8-4 lead over the Dolphins before Rodriguez scored to slow the momentum, but two more Valiant goals gave them a 10-5 lead over the Dolphins in the second quarter.

CMSV answered the run by scoring three goals in the next few minutes of the first half. Rodriguez put in two more goals and MacNeil added one to cut the deficit to 10-8 going into the halftime break.

MacNeil continued her strong play, scoring a goal in the first minute of the second half, but a Valiant goal stopped the Dolphin rally.

Junior Ava Starace joined the scoring column with a goal to cut the deficit back to one, but that would be as close as it would get for the Dolphins as the Valiants matched each of the next Dolphin goals with two of their own.

MacNeil scored her final goal of the game in the final minute of the third quarter and Starace added a goal late in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to lead CMSV to a victory as they fell to the Valiants 16-12.

The Dolphins are still one game above .500 and will look to push for a playoff spot as they take on conference opponent United States Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday April 19th.
