Throgs Neck, NY - Mount Saint Vincent's men's lacrosse team called Maritime College home on Wednesday evening, as they hosted Anna Maria College at Reinhart Field in their final non-conference game of the 2022 season. It was a tough battle between the two teams, but it was the Amcats who got the better of the Dolphins, winning by the score of 12-5. CMSV is now 1-5 through six games this season.
It was a tightly contested affair in the first 15 minutes of the game, with the Dolphins winning the possession battle and outshooting the Amcats 16-4. The back and forth reflected the scoreboard, with the game being tied at one. CMSV got on the board thanks to
Giovanni Jean-Pharuns, who pinned a strong shot over the goaltender's left shoulder, with senior
Patrick Nagy registering the assist.
Anna Maria would go on to rattle off five unanswered goals in the second quarter before senior
Matthew Pincus converted a shot attempt to break the Amcats' streak. Jean-Pharuns, Pincus and sophomore Joe Santana would all convert shot attempts in the second half, but the second quarter doomed the Dolphins for the remainder of the game.
Pincus added an assist to his two-goal game while sophomore
Jacob Cochran secured an assist of his own. Nagy paced the Dolphins with eight shots and seven ground balls while freshman
Aaron Smith won seven of 19 faceoff attempts. Cochran and senior defenseman
Anthony Manna each caused one turnover.
Junior goaltender
Sawyer Davis face 39 total shots and made 15 saves in another strong performance.
With the calendar turning to April, it's time for Skyline play. The Dolphns will host Purchase College this coming Saturday in the conference opener.
