Box Score Patchogue, NY- The CMSV men's volleyball team traveled to Long Island as they took on the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College- Long Island. The Dolphins fought hard, but ultimately fell to the number one seed in the conference, 3-0.
The Dolphins played a steady game coming off there 3-0 win over Sarah Lawrence, but were overpowered against the Golden Eagles. The first set started as a close matchup as the Dolphins remained within five points of the Golden Eagles, but a 7-2 run would push the deficit too far for CMSV to recover from as they dropped the first set, 25-13.
The second set was similar to the first as they scored the same amount of points. The Dolphins got off to a slow start allowing five straight points to start the set, but CMSV fought back and would cut the deficit to 6-5 in favor of the Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, an 14-3 run would give the Golden Eagles the advantage as they took the set, 25-13.
Again the Dolphins fought hard in the final set, but the high powered offense of the Golden Eagles would give them the win. CMSV gave a four point cushion to the Golden Eagles to start, and would claw their way back, but a 10-2 run would seal the game for St. Joes, winning the final set 25-12.
The Dolphins saw bright spots from Sophomores James Rose and Kyle Thompson as they combined for seven kills on the night.
CMSV will head into Bronxville, NY Saturday as they look to take over fourth place in the Skyline Conference to earn a playoff berth. The Dolphins take on Sarah Lawrence and New Jersey City University in a conference trimatch.
