Montclair, NJ- The CMSV softball team returned to the field looking to stay in the win column as they traveled across the bridge to face off against Montclair State University in a non-conference doubleheader. The Dolphins fought hard, but ultimately fell to the Red Hawks, 8-0 in both matchups.
The Dolphins kept the game close through the first two innings, but an eight-run fourth inning for the Redhawks would prove to be too much for CMSV. Senior Abigail Laurendeau and junior Jocelyn Vega were the lone Dolphins who got a hit in the first matchup.
The second matchup started better for the Dolphins as senior Ariana Rentas doubled to center field in the first inning. Unfortunately, that would be the lone hit for CMSV until sophomore Kaitlin Cirillo singled in the fifth inning.Â
With the Dolphin offense stalled, the Redhawks took advantage, scoring six consecutive runs in the next two innings and two more in the final inning. Â
The Dolphins will look to regroup as they take on St. Joseph's College- Long Island Saturday, April 2nd.
