Dolphins Fall to Golden Eagles in Doubleheader Matchup

Patchogue, NY- The CMSV softball team headed to Long Island to face off against the Eagles of St. Joseph's College- Long Island in a Skyline Conference doubleheader. The Dolphins fought hard, but were outlasted as they dropped both games, 11-4 and 13-0.

The Dolphins got off to a slow start in the first game allowing over half of the Eagles runs in the first two innings as six runs crossed the plate for the Eagles. The Dolphins weren't deterred as they poured in four runs of their own in the fourth inning.

A pair of singles by sophomore Aimee Vega and senior Lakisha Camacho would score the first run of the game for the Dolphins. Freshman Sierra Romero would continue that trend as her single would bring home another run. Junior Katie Hutter would then come to the plate and get a double to score the final two runs of the inning.

The Dolphins looked to continue to swing the bat well, but would be limited to those four runs for the remainder of the game. Unfortunately for the Dolphins, the Eagle offense continued to stay hot as they scored four more runs to end the game which would be too much for CMSV to overcome.

The second matchup was more of the same for the Dolphins as they were unable to put any runs on the board. A few bright spots for the Dolphins include senior Abigail Laurendeau who was a perfect 2-2 at the plate in the second game.

The Dolphins will look to get back in the win column as they head to Purchase college for another doubleheader.
