Riverdale, Ny- The CMSV men's volleyball team returned to the court for a conference matchup against the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University. The Dolphins fought hard but fell to the Knights, 3-0.
The first set saw a close matchup early as the Dolphins made several solid plays as CMSV only trailed by three points. The Gothic Knights then made a deep run scoring five consecutive points to push the score to 13-5. Coach Courtney Bernstein fired her team up as the Dolphins responded with three straight points of their own. CMSV continued to bounce back, but the Gothic Knights would ultimately outmatch CMSV, 25-13.
The second set was more of the same for CMSV. The Dolphins kept it a close contest in the beginning, but a strong performance from the Gothic Knights made it tough for CMSV. The Dolphins would eventually fall to the Gothic Knights 25-12.
The Dolphins kept it close again in the third set as they tied at 6, but a 10-2 run led CMSV to a 16-9 deficit. The Dolphins fought hard, but ultimately dropped the contest 25-13.
Kyle Thompson led the Dolphins in kills on the day with five kills. Christian Santiago followed with four, and junior classmates Samuel Martinez and Kevin Erhand each added three.
The Dolphins will look to bounce back quickly as they head to Ramapo College on Thursday.
