Box Score 2 Hackettstown, NJ - After a big win earlier this week against John Jay College, the Dolphins were back on the diamond on Sunday afternoon, looking to continue their winning ways against Centenary University. The Dolphins succeeded on their road trip, defeating the Cyclones in both contests by the scores of 8-6 and 6-4.
Now on a three game winning streak, the Dolphins are 8-5 on the year as Skyline Conference play approaches.
CMSV's offense got things going immediately. After both
Jake Blinstrub (single) and
Jake Pierre (walk) got on base to start the action,
Matt DiNorcia doubled both runners home to give the Dolphins an early two run advantage. Centenary plated four runs in their own in the bottom halves of the first and second innings, but
John Muller's offense once again stepped up in the third. Seniors
Michael Grisanti and
Eric Zimmermann drew bases loaded walks while sophomore
Sean Kennedy and freshman
Dom Porto each collected an RBI each to make it a 6-4 game. While the Cyclones battled, RBI from Pierre and freshman
Jason Albert in the sixth and seventh innings secured the win.
Starting pitcher
Andrew Geiger matched the offensive's efforts. The junior hurler gave the Dolphins eight innings, allowing just two earned runs on 12 hits while striking out eight. Geiger now has a 2.30 ERA through five games.
Game two was similar to the first, as the Dolphins posted runs in three straight innings. The top-of-the-order duo of Blinstrub and DiNorcia got things going in the third, with the duo combining for three RBI. The fourth inning saw Albert drive in yet another run while DiNorcia and Zimmermann collected RBI in the fifth.
Joe Decandia,
Humberto Vela,
Aidan Cardenas and
Aidan Rice combined for seven innings of work on the mound for the Dolphins. Decandia specifically impressed with three strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work.
CMSV will turn their attention to Lehman College, who they'll play this coming Thursday.
