Chester County, PA - The men's lacrosse team was back on the road on Saturday afternoon after a tough home battle against Cobleskill. The Dolphins were looking for their first win of 2022 when they traveled out to Pennsylvania to take on Immaculata College. Despite a strong effort, CMSV couldn't keep up with the Mighty Macs, losing by the score of 15-8. The Dolphins are now 0-3 to open their season.
Over the first half hour of play, the Dolphins kept pace with Immaculata. After a quick opening goal by the Mighty Macs in the first 70 seconds of the contest, sophomore defenseman
Adrian Guillermo opened things up for his team, scoring his first collegiate goal while tying things up at one. After Immaculata scored three straight, head coach James Fitzerald's offense once again cut into the deficit. First it was senior
Matthew Pincus, who scored with 4:25 left in the first off a pass from
Albert Dore. Then it was freshman
Ryan Jean-Pharuns, who put one past the goaltender for the first time in his young career to make it a 4-3 game. Sophomore
Jacob Cochran scored to make it a 6-4 contest, and Dolphins went into halftime down five.
Things quieted down for the Dolphins offense in the second half. While top offensive players in Pincus,
Giovanni Jean-Pharuns and
Patrick Nagy combined for four goals, the Mighty Macs offense was too much to overcome for the Dolphins' defense.
Both Pincus and
Giovanni Jean-Pharuns scored two goals while adding a helper to their stat lines while
Joseph Santana joined Dore, Pincus,
Giovanni Jean-Pharuns and
Ryan Jean-Pharuns in the assist category. Guillermo also paced the Dolphins with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers while freshman
Aaron Smith added five ground balls of his own. Goaltender
Sawyer Davis impressed with 26 saves in 60 minutes of action.
The Dolphins will return to the road this coming Tuesday to take on Mitchell College.
