Dolphins Offense Brings In Win First Of 2022

Wilkes-Barre, PA - After a tough opening day loss, the Dolphins returned to the field, this time taking on King's College in a road matchup in Pennsylvania on Tuesday evening. It was once again another strong offensive performance for CMSV, but this time they got the better of their opponents, winning by the score of 16-14.

The Dolphins are now 1-1 to start the 2022 season. This was the team's first victory since the 2020 season, which ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Both sides battled in impressive fashion, keeping it close between the first three periods. CMSV scored nine total goals in the first half; Ava Starace opened play with a goal of her own while assisting on Ashley Teal's, giving the Dolphins an early two goal edge. Teal added two more before halftime, while Starace, Alicia Rodriguez, Colleen MacNeil and Veronica Sevivas helped bring the team's total to nine compared to 10 goals from the King's.

After the Monarch's scored an early goal to extend their lead to two in the third quarter, MacNeil and Rodriguez scored one apiece to tie things up. The Dolphins outscored King's five to two in the final quarter, with goals from Rodriguez, Teal and Starace resulting in the win.

As a whole, the Dolphins bested the Monarchs in both shots and draw controls while going 16 for 24 on clears.

MacNeil did it all for the Dolphins on Tuesday. On top of her two goals and four helpers, she also led CMSV in ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls. Rodriguez took a team-high 10 shots on goal while Macey Forg added seven cause ground balls of her own while making 11 saves in the win.

The Dolphins will look to keep the momentum on their side later this week. They'll host Ramapo College in Riverdale this coming Thursday.
