Dolphins Advance To Semifinals In Win Over Rams

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team hosted a first round playoff matchup for the first time since the 2016-17 season and made it one to remember as they defeated Farmingdale State College to advance to the Skyline Conference semifinals. The 77-73 victory gave Phil Stern and the Dolphins their 18th win of the season. They'll head to Kings Point to take on USMMA this coming Thursday. 

It was a playoff atmosphere in the Peter Jay Sharp Center on Tuesday evening, and the game was played like one. It was tightly contested throughout, with both the Dolphins and Rams trading leads over the the 40 minutes of play. CMSV shot 41% from the floor, including 53% in the fourth quarter. On the other end of the floor, the Dolphins caused 18 turnovers to help ensure the win. 

In what could be her last game on the home floor, Dez Brown had a major performance for her team, putting up a team-high 27 points to go along with eight boards while dominating the middle of the floor. Melanieann Broderick stepped into the shoes voided by senior Victoria Hanley and has excelled, resulting in 12 points and 15 rebounds of her own. Amber Been stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 10 assists and six rebounds while Kayla Hanley and Kira Villegas combined for 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
