Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dolphins Finish Out Regular Season Against Golden Eagles, Clinch Playoff Berth

Riverdale, NY - The men's basketball team battled valiantly on Saturday afternoon, but St. Joe's Long Island was too tough to overcome, as the Dolphins dropped the contest by the score of 62-55. Despite the loss, CMSV will return to the Skyline Conference playoffs for the first time since the 2017-18 season, and they clinched the spot on the day they honored five graduating seniors.

James Mooney's team finishes the season going 7-9 in the conference and will face off against the United States Merchant Marine Academy in King's Point on Tuesday.

It was a 40 minute battle between the Dolphins and Golden Eagles, with CMSV able to keep pace thanks to shooting 52% from the floor over the first half while allowing St. Joe's to make just 11 of their 29 field goal attempts. The Golden Eagles held the Dolphins scoreless at the beginning of the second half, and despite CMSV's best comeback attempts - one that saw a full court steal and ensuing three pointer to cut the deficit to one with under a minute to go - clutch free throw shooting left St. Joe's on top.

Kelvin Turner-Harris finished his regular season career with the Dolphins in a big way, leading the team with 14 points while shooting four of nine from three. Kalos Evans was a beast on the boards with 15 rebounds to go along with 13 points and two steals while Aaron Darab had nine points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists of his own. Jeremiah Simmons and Haven Smith came off the bench to combine for 12 points.

With the loss in the rearview mirror, the Dolphins will look to regroup quickly as the Mariners await them this coming Tuesday.
