Dolphins Upset #2 USMMA To Advance To Semifinals

Kings Point, NY - The Dolphins walked into Liebertz Gynasium as underdogs and left as winners as they advanced to the Skyline Conference semifinals for the first time since the 2017-18 season after defeating USMMA in overtime by the score of 87-76. The men's basketball team will now look ahead to a showdown against Yeshiva University this coming Thursday.

James Mooney had his team prepared in a major way, ball pressuring numerous USMMA standouts while seeing his offense hit key shots on their end of the floor. The Dolphins trailed throughout a good portion of the contest but a resilient collective attitude saw the team tie things up on the charity stripe before the game was forced into overtime. It was there where standout Dan Porcic put the team on his shoulders, scoring 10 of the team's 17 overtime points.

Speaking of Porcic, the junior shot six of 11 of the three point line, en route to a 24 point performance. Aaron Darab had a tremendous game of his own, matching Porcic's 24 points while going nine of 14 from the field. The junior also added three assists, two rebounds and a steal. Freshman Dillon Hod came off the bench and provided a burst of energy that put the Dolphins over the top, putting together his best offensive performance to daye (15 points, six rebounds, three steals). Senior Dorian Robinson added 13 points of his own while classmate Kalos Evans led the team in both rebounds (nine) and assists (four).

The Dolphins will regroup over the next 24 hours as they prepare to face off against Yeshiva University with a Skyline Conference championship bid on the line. Stay tuned to CMSVAthletics.com for all the aciton.
