Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Dolphins Overcome Struggles For Fifth Straight Victory

Riverdale, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball was able to overcome a shaky overall performance against Yeshiva University to win their fifth game and 10 out of their last 11. The win puts the Dolphins at 16-3 overall and 14-3 within the conference, both marks being the best numbers in recent memory.

Despite first half struggles that saw the Dolphins trail, the team shot over 53% from the floor, enough to take the lead and never look back. As a whole, CMSV shot just 37% from the field but forced 17 Maccabees turnovers, good enough to finish the contest on top 58-49.

Junior Kira Villegas Led the way for the Dolphins, impressing with a team-high 14 points to go along with six boards and three steals. Despite top performers Amber Been and Victoria Hanley not having a scoring touch, they combined for 20 points, 20 rebounds and six assists. Kayla Hanley had nine points of her own while Melanieann Broderick and Shania Wolfe-White came off the bench and provided energy.

The Dolphins have two more contests to finish out the season, the first coming on the road against Manhattanville this coming Thursday.
