Five Game Win Streak Ends At Hands Of Valiants

Box Score Purchase, NY - The women's basketball team was on the road on Thursday, looking to continue their winning ways against Manhattanville College. The Valiants, however, had other plans, as they defeated the Dolphins by 12 points, ending the team's five game winning streak. Now 14-5 against the Skyline, just a game separates the Dolphins and Valiants for seeds three and four in the conference playoffs. The first round of the postseason takes place this coming Tuesday.

The game couldn't have started out better for the Dolphins, as they jumped out to a 16-4 lead after the first quarter due to stingy play on the defensive end. The game was flipped in the second quarter, with Manhattanville outscoring CMSV by 14 points, making it a two point Valiants lead going into halftime. The Dolphins would remain a step behind for the rest of the contest, with the team shooting just 33% for the game while turning the ball over 19 times.

Junior Amber Been and senior Victoria Hanley were the lone Dolphins to score in double figures, collecting 12 and 10 points, respectively. Melanieann Broderick converted three of her five shot attemps, good for six points and seven boards while Kira Villegas secured four rebounds to go along with three assists and a steal.

The Dolphins will have one final tuneup before the first round of the playoffs. It'll take place at home this coming Saturday against Purchase.
