Brooklyn, NY - The women's basketball program saw their success continue this past weekend, as the team emerged victorious over St. Joe's Brooklyn in a Skyline Conference showdown. The win gave the Dolphins their 15th overall on the season, giving the team a 13-4 record against the conference thus far.
13 Skyline wins is tied for the most since the 2016-17 season.
While the Dolphins struggled from the floor as a whole on Saturday afternoon, their defense, three point shooting and dominance in the paint was enough to overpower the Bears.
Phil Stern's offense doesn't offer many three-point opportunities, but the Dolphins knocked them down when given the green light. The team converted five of seven attempts, including four coming from sophomore transfer
Kayla Hanley. The Dolphins also outscored St. Joe's 32-16 in the paint while generating 13 turnovers.
The Dolphins featured a balanced attack on the offensive end, with four different scorers registering 16 points. Hanley finished the night with 16 points and seven boards, junior
Amber Been collected 16 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and a steal,
Kira Villegas scored 16 with six rebounds, three assists and three steals and
Dez Brown added 16 points and seven rebounds on six of nine shooting. Sophomore
Melanieann Broderick also had a strong afternoon with 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Winners in 10 of their last 11, the Dolphins have three games remaining before the Skyline Conference playoffs commence. Next up for CMSV is Yeshiva University, who they'll take on this coming Tuesday in the Sharp Center.
