Riverdale, NY - The men's basketball team had their first home contest in front of fans in 2022 on Wednesday and made it count. With playoffs in sight, the Dolphins played one of their best overall games of the season, en route to a 76-70 victory over St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn. Now 7-6 against the Skyline, CMSV is in a prime position to make noise come playoff time later this month.
James Mooney's offense was rolling in the first half, as the Dolphins shot 50% from both the field and from three, putting the team up 20 points going into the halftime. While it was tough to keep up with the torrid pace over the final 20 minutes of play, the defense stepped up by causing 13 Bears turnovers.
Junior
Dan Porcic was once again an offensive force for CMSV, as he scored 34 points to lead the way for his team. Classmate
Aaron Darab was hot from beyond the arc, knocking down five of seven from three, good for 19 points of his own. Sophomore
Elijah McKenzie impressed on both ends of the floor with 11 points, seven boards and four blocks while senior
Kalos Evans' play making skills were on full display with six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
The Dolphins are looking to keep things rolling tomorrow afternoon in a pivotal matchup against Farmingdale.
