Dolphins Route Gryphons As Fans Return To Sharp Center

Riverdale, NY - For the first time this calendar year, family, friends, students, staff and administrators were allowed back into the Sharp Center to cheer on the women's basketball team. The Dolphins put on a show for the crowd, as they defeated Sarah Lawrence College in a major way, winning by the score of 64-44. The victory brings CMSV's conference record to 10-4, good for third in the Skyline.

Both the Dolphins' offense and defense was firing on all cyliders from the majority of the contest. After outscoring the Gryphons 15-9 in the first quarter, CMSV didn't allow a basket in the final 10 minutes before halftime while forcing five turnovers. The second half was more of the same for CMSV, as Phil Stern's Dolphins shot over 69% from the floor in the third period before his bench unit closed out the final ticks of the contest.

It was another standout performance for senior Victoria Hanley, who recorded her fifth double-double (18 points, 14 rebounds) in just 26 minutes of action. Junior Kira Villegas was a force on both ends of the floor, finishing with 16 points on seven of 12 shooting to go along with seven boards, three steals and two blocks. Transfer sophomore Melanieann Broderick played in all 40 minutes of action and rewarded the coaching staff for her playing time, as she posted 12 points, 15 rebounds and four assists of her own. Freshman Shania Wolfe-White impressed in limited minutes as well, as she collected three boards, two points and two helpers while pacing the offense to close out the game.

The Dolphins now set their sights on St. Joe's Long Island, who will visit Riverdale this coming Saturday for a matinee matchup.
