Newburgh, NY - The Dolphins, looking to get into the win column against Skyline opponents this season, traveled upstate to take on Mount Saint Mary College on Thursday evening. Despite coming out of the gate strong, CMSV dropped the game to the Knights by the score of 69-52 and fell to 0-5 against the conference. Despite the outcoming, guard
Amber Been furthered her strong 2022 campaign, scoring 18 points with 10 boards to go along with seven assists and five steals.
In what has become a theme this season,
Maria Nardulli's squad came out firing, shooting nearly 50% from the floor while leading Mount Saint Mary while heading into the second quarter. The 10 minutes before halftime was a struggle for the Dolphins, as they scored just four total points while seeing the Knights take a 15 point lead into the locker rooms.
CMSV got back on track in the third, cutting the Knights' lead in half, but it was too little, too late. In addition to Been's performance, senior guard
Kira Villegas also finished in double figures. The Bronx native shot 50% from beyond the arc and five of six from the charity stripe, en route to a 15 point, five rebound performance.
Melanieann Broderick played in all 40 minutes of action and had eight points and nine boards of her own.
The Dolphins will look to regroup and figure things out on Tuesday when they host Five Towns College in non-conference action.
