Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Dolphins Dominate Pratt, Improve To 2-0

Riverdale, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's basketball team was looking to pick up where they left off on Wednesday evening, as they looked to win their second straight contest to open the 2022-23 campaign. The Maria Nardulli-led Dolphins did just that, as they dominated the Pratt Institute on both ends of the floor, winning by the score of 71-34.

The Dolphins started the first quarter on fire and never looked back. Shooting nine of 19 from the floor as a team, CMSV went up 22-8, with senior guard Kira Villegas leading the way with 10 points, making four of six shot attempts. The second quarter was more of the same, with the Dolphins holding the Cannoneers to just a 14.3 shooting percentage while generating 11 turnovers.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the Dolphins put the finishing touches in their second dominant outing in as many games. CMSV led in every major statistical category, including rebounds, second chance points and fast break points.

Amber Been, who was named First Team All Skyline a season ago, put together another strong performance, tying the team lead with 16 points while adding nine boards, six steals and three assists. Villegas tied Been with 16 of her own.

Freshman Julia Angeles looked extremely comfortable in her second collegiate outing, posting the first double double of her young career with 11 points and 11 boards. Melanieann Broderick also finished in double figures with 10 points while Kayla Hanley added five points, six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.

The Dolphins will now have 10 days to prepare for their first conference contest. They'll be taking on Farmingdale State in a playoff rematch on November 22.
