Long Island, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team continued their impressive run on Saturday night as they handedly defeated Old Westbury 4-0 to improve their conference record to 5-1. The Dolphins, who are winners in their last four games, have outscored their opponents 16-3 over that same span.
CMSV continued their impressive balanced attack on Saturday evening as they continued to dominate both ends of the pitch. The Dolphins scored two of their four goals in the first half, with the first tally coming just 12 minutes into the game. It all started when sophomore
Amanda Cotroneo took a corner kick for her team. After
Riley Leedholm picked up the kick, she passed it right back to Cotroneo, who fired it from outside of the box to give her team the early one goal edge. With just five minutes left in the half, the Dolphins continued their pressure, with the freshmen tandem of
Emily Legler and
Jasmine Hewitt both crashing the net. Legler was the beneficiary of Hewitt's past, with the first-year player scoring her first career goal to give her team the 2-0 lead going into halftime.
It was more of the same in the second half for the Dolphins, as they continued to outplay the Panthers in all facets of the game. 17 minutes into play, freshman
Victoria Gamarra passed out of the box to
Emily McCarthy who was standing near midfield, who immediately fired a pass to a streaking
Alicia Rodriguez, who scored her seventh goal in the 2022 season. As the game neared its end, McCarthy placed a corner kick directly to classmate
Lilli Marin, who put the cherry on top of the game with her seventh career goal. McCarthy, who is known as one of the best scorers in program history, picked up assists on each of the final two goals.
Brooke Frierson received the start for the Dolphins and turned away all three shots she faced.
The Dolphins will now turn their attention to St. Joseph's University Long Island, who will make their way to Riverdale on Wednesday.
