Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team returned to conference action on Monday after falling to Wilkes University over the weekend. The Dolphins played host to Yeshiva University in the final week of the regular season and looked to be in top form, cruising to a 7-0 victory over the Maccabees. The stage is now set in the regular season finale later this week, with CMSV taking on Farmingdale with a first-round bye on the line.
The Dolphins offense was firing on all cylinders over the 90 minutes of action. Sophomore
Alicia Rodriguez got things going just four minutes into the contest when freshman
Emily Brownell found a streaking Rodriguez, who scored her team-high 11th goal this season. It was then classmate
Amanda Cotroneo's turn, as the sophomore midfielder converted a free kick attempt from the top of the box that saw her shot sail over the diving Maccabees goalkeeper. Before the half ended,
Makayla Pain scored the first goal of her collegiate career, with the assist credited to
Emily Legler.
It was more of the same for the Dolphins in the second half, with the home team taking 36 shots compared to Yeshiva's one. Rodriguez and Cotroneo would score again in the 47th and 51st minutes, respectively, while freshman
Emily Toepfer also scored her first career goal with the help from
Saliah Robinson. Senior
Lilli Marin would provide the cherry on top with an impressive goal off a floating pass from
Shayla Hassler.
The Dolphins will now set their sights on the Rams, who come to Riverdale on Wednesday.
