Kings Point, NY - The Dolphins were on the road for the first time in two weeks, looking to extend their winning streak to six games against Skyline Conference competition. Unfortunately for CMSV, offensive struggles in the second quarter put the team in a hole that was too tough to climb out of, as USMMA defeated the Dolphins 53-38.
The Dolphins are now 11-4 overall thus far, with nine wins in 13 games against the Skyline.
The Dolphins were without their star offensive player in Amber Been. While Phil Stern's squad did their best to pick up the slack, it was too much to overcome. After outscoring the Mariners by six points in the first quarter, the Dolphins made just one basket in 13 tries and went into halftime down 21-17.
Despite improving their field goal percentage to 40% in the final 20 minutes of play, USMMA stayed out front for the duration of the contest.
Senior Victoria Hanley continued her strong 2021-22 season, pacing the team in both points (16) and rebounds (eight). Both Kira Villegas and Melanieann Broderick dished out four assists apiece while Dez Brown scored five points with six boards.
Next up for the Dolphins will be Sarah Lawrence, who will take the short trip to Riverdale on Tuesday.
