Newburgh, NY - The Dolphins were on the road on Tuesday evening, traveling to upstate New York to take on Mount Saint Mary College in their third consecutive Skyline Conference matchup. CMSV was able to pick up where they left off this past Saturday as they emerged victorious in their second straight game, winning by the score of 57-54. The victory improves the team's overall record to 6-7 on the year, with an impressive 4-2 mark against the conference.
Despite trailing by as much as nine points in the first half, the Dolphins stayed even with the Knights throughout the duration of the 20 minutes played. Junior
Aaron Darab had his second straight strong first half, pacing CMSV with eight points. Senior
Kelvin Turner-Harris did his best to keep his team in the game as he shot 50% from beyond the arc. As a whole, the Dolphins went five of 11 from three while causing eight Knight turnovers.
The second half saw the Dolphins take over, as both senior
Jeremiah Simmons and
Elijah McKenzie combined for 14 points, helping extend their team's lead to eight with less than 16 minutes to play. Down by two with three minutes to go, McKenzie's layup put CMSV by one, while Turner-Harris and
Kalos Evans sealed the game with scores in two of three possessions.
McKenzie paced the Dolphins in both points (12) and rebounds (seven) while Darab, Turner-Harris and Simmons had 11 apiece. Sophomore
Jack Connolley added five points and three boards in limited minutes while Evans added seven rebounds of his own.
Winners of two straight, the Dolphins will next play host to Farmingdale State College. The Skyline Conference showdown will be held in the Sharp Center this coming Thursday.
