Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Dolphins Split Tri-Match, Open Skyline Play Against Knights

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's team played host to Mount Saint Mary College and Baruch College on Saturday morning, opening the doors to Skyline play while also getting another non-conference tuneup. The Dolphins and Knights had a fantastic battle that ultimately saw Mount Saint Mary secure the five set victory. CMSV rebounded nicely, sweeping the Bearcats in consecutive sets to finish the day of games. The Dolphins now sit at 6-5 on the year.

Samantha Schroeder, who missed the last two games due to injury, returned in a major way, leading the team in kills with 26 combined kills against the Knights and Bearcats. She received a ton of help from senior teammate Madison Gale, who assisted on 33 points in game one and 22 points in game two. She now has 270 total assists, a Skyline Conference best.

It wasn't just Schroeder and Gale who got things done for CMSV in their split. Dez Brown and Melanieann Broderick were forces on offense against Mount Saint Mary, as they had eight kills each. Brown also paced the team with four blocks while senior Olivia Kane had a team-high 20 digs. Senior captain Rianna Rivera stepped up against the Bearcats with six kills and a block of her own, with Isabella Garcia and Brianna Ayuso also impressing against Baruch.

CMSV will have a three day break before playing host to Maritime College on Wednesday evening. The Skyline Conference action will take place in the Peter Jay Sharp Center. Tune into the action on CMSVAthletics.com.
