Dolphins Cruise To First Skyline Win Over Maritime

Riverdale, NY - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's volleyball team returned to the court on Wednesday evening, their first matchup since hosting Mount Saint Mary College and Baruch College this past Saturday. With Maritime College in Riverdale, the Dolphins were looking to capture their first conference victory in the 2021 season. They did just that, cruising to the win in straight sets, 25-9, 25-17, 25-15.

The Dolphins received contributions from all over their roster. Leading the charge offensively was senior Lindsay DeBoer, who continued her strong season with a team-high eight kills. Classmate and captain Rianna Rivera impressed in her own right, as she collected five kills, four block assists, three service aces and an assist, good for 10 points. Both Olivia Kane and Isabella Garcia performed well in aiding the offense's efforts, combining for 15 digs.

First-time Dolphins Melanieann Broderick and Elizabeth Flores combined for eight kills of their own, while junior Brianna Ayuso had three kills, nine assists and two digs. Freshman Lydia Aryee got her first taste of action on the Peter Jay Sharp Center floor and collected one kill in her debut. Last but not least was Madison Gale, who once again set up her team in a major way with a game-high 10 assists. The captain now has 280 assists in 12 games, good for second in the Skyline Conference.

The Dolphins, now 7-5 on the year and 1-1 against conference competiton, now set their sights on the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The heavyweight battle will take place in Kings Point on September 28.
