Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Dolphins Stay Undefeated With Victory Over York

Brooklyn, NY - The Dolphins back line helped secure a 2-1 victory over York College earlier today at Aviator Field in Brooklyn, New York. A strong performance by both young and older players showed the balance of the team in a win to continue their unbeaten run.

The Dolphins attackers led from the front, registering seven shots in the first ten minutes of the match. From there, the pressure was relentless, with the breakthrough coming at the 25 minute
mark. Carlos Romero, a freshman from Mesquite Texas, converted a penalty shot, good for his third goal this season. The Cardinals would answer back with a goal of their own in the 40th minute off of a set piece. The Dolphins' back line has yet to allow a goal from open play so far this season, showcasing just how strong the team plays on the defensive end. Right before the end of the half, Fernando Guzman picked up the first caution of the match.

As the second half begun, Mount Saint Vincent kept up the pressure, coming so close to a go ahead goal in the 52nd minute when Ruben Collazos hit a missile right into the crossbar. But the wait was not long, as transfer Tyrone Malango scored the first of his CMSV career, with the assist coming from fellow freshman Fernando Guzman in the 53rd minute. The Dolphins cruised from the 60 minute mark on, controlling the game and securing the win.

The Dolphins had some stand out performances from their back line, specifically junior Dennis Andino, along with the duo of freshmen Malango and Romero.

After the game we caught up with graduate student and co-captain Luciano Cirelli and asked how it felt to get on a run like this right before conference play. "Being that this time last year we [were not] even able to play against an opponent let alone practice, this team has taken every opportunity it can to go out and compete to win and rolling into conference play with a strong record we still remain humble and look forward to a great season".

Your Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins will be back in action on Wednesday night as they visit defending Skyline Conference champions Maritime College (2-1). Kick off will be at 7:30.
