Union, NJ - The Dolphins returned to the field on Friday evening after nearly a week layoff, this time taking on Kean University in some more non-conference action. Despite a strong effort from CMSV, the Cougars ended up being too tough to top, with Kean walking away with a 2-0 win. The Dolphins are now 0-1-1 early on in the 2021 season.
Kean got off to a quick start, putting their first goal past Megan Meeuwisse within the first three minutes of play. The Cougars followed that up with another score in the 21st minute, which would be the only other goal scored in the evening affair. From there, the Dolphins played lockdown defense, which featured seniors
Lauren Vetoulis and
Christine Laskowski and freshmen
Amanda Cotroneo and
Gabriela Del Castillo.
Freshman
Jamie-Lynne Clarke got her first taste of collegiate action on Friday, coming in for Meeuwisse in the 32nd minute. The Rancho Santa Margarita, California native impressed as she turned away all 14 shots she saw, including making eight saves. Junior
Emily McCarthy paced the Dolphins in both shots (four) and shots on goal (three).
CMSV will be back in New Jersey this coming Wednesday, as they take on FDU-Florham at 4:00 PM. Stayed tuned to the athletics website to follow the action live.
