Bronx, NY - After a 10-day layoff, CMSV men's soccer team was finally back on the pitch, as they took on local rival Lehman College this past Saturday in non-conference action. The Dolphins had their second overtime contest in as many games, but this time around it ended in a tie.
Lehman came out of the gates firing, scoring the first goal of the game in the eighth minute of play. From there, the Dolphins defense did a tremendous job throughout the rest of the afternoon, as they allowed Lehman to take 11 total shots between the first 90 minutes and both overtime periods.
Joel Luna impressed in his second start in net for the Dolphins, as he secured six saves. He was aided by a strong defense of
Luciano Cirelli,
Dennis Andino,
Fernando Guzman and
Isaac Tamer.
It was CMSV's turn to get on the board, as freshman
Carlos Romero recorded his first career collegiate goal in the 51st minute to tie the game at one. The Dolphins took five shots between the second half and overtime but struggled to get one past the Lehman keeper. Romero paced the team with five shots with two on goal while playing all 110 minutes of action.
The Dolphins will look to get back into the win column when they take on the Pratt Institue this coming Wednesday.
