Patchogue, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent and St. Joseph's College – Brooklyn were back in softball action on Tuesday after both teams split their weekend series. The Bears got the better of the Dolphins this time around, earning a sweep by the scores of 6-3 and 10-0.
It was a close battle in the early going of game one. Despite the Bears rattling off a run in each of the first three innings and then two more in the fifth, the Dolphins were able to keep things close. Junior
Lakisha Camacho got the Dolphins on the board in the bottom of the fifth with a home run to dead center field.
With game now 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh,
Shaniya Serrano did her best to keep the Dolphins in the game, as her two RBI single cut the Bears' lead in half. But that was all the Dolphins could muster, resulting in the loss.
Senior
Abigail Laurendeau led the way for CMSV in game one with three hits in four at-bats.
Game two was all Bears, as the Dolphins were only able to get four hits throughout the five inning affair. Freshman
Arianna Rentas paced her team with two.
CMSV will have to regroup quickly. Next up is a double header against Purchase College which will take place this coming Saturday.
