Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Dolphins Open Hot, Struggle Late Against Valiants

Purchase, NY - The CMSV men's lacrosse team traveled to Purchase on Tuesday afternoon for a matchup against the Valiants of Manhattanville College. The Dolphins were looking to get their first win of 2021 but were unfortunately defeated by the score of 17-1.

The Dolphins fought hard and got off to an early start against the Valiants, but the efforts were not reflected in the final score. Freshman Joseph Santana started the game off early for the Dolphins as he scored the first goal of the game and of his career. Santana's goal gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead late in the first quarter, but the Valiants rallied back with three goals of their own to finish out the first.

The trend continued throughout the game as the Valiants went on to score 17 unanswered goals.  The Dolphin offense struggled to put any goals in the net, but there were many opportunities for them to score. The Dolphins had 14 shots on goal throughout the game, but only one would make it past the goalie.

CMSV fought hard, and played through the adversity as they won 12 faceoffs compared to the Valiants who only won 10. Senior Nana-Kofi Agyekum led the charge with five ground balls while Jacob Cochran, Patrick Nagy, Patrick Gazzillo, Mackenzie Doyle, Nick DiStefano and Sawyer Davis each caused one turnover.

The Dolphins, now on the backend of the 2021 season, look to their last game as they face off against the Privateers of Maritime College for senior day on May 1.
